For finally dethroning Konawaena, Waiakea’s girls basketball team was awarded the second seed at the state Division I girls basketball tournament.
The Warriors will face either Kalani or Radford at 5 p.m. Feb. 7 in the quarterfinals at McKinley High in Honolulu.
The Wildcats, who saw their streak of 10 consecutive BIIF titles end last Saturday, host Leilehua at 4 p.m. Monday in a first-round game.
Iolani is the No. 1 seed, Lahainaluna is seeded third and Kahuku is fourth.
In D-II, BIIF champion Hawaii Prep is seeded fourth and will draw either Waimea or Waipahu at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at Damien School. BIIF runner-up Ka’u makes its state debut at 5 p.m. Wednesday against University at Kalani, while Kamehameha follows against Hanalani at 7 p.m.
Hawaii Baptist is the top seed.
Boys
Isaac Jardine scored 15 points Wednesday night and Honokaa beat Parker 56-31 at home to wrap up the third seed in the BIIF Division II boys basketball playoffs.
Kalewa O’Neil added nine points to help the Dragons (4-6) snap a three-game losing streak and Bucky Ahuna added eight.
Conner Brown scored 13 points for the Bulls (2-8). Parker’s only path to the playoffs is to win road games Friday at Keaau and next week at Kamehameha.
Honokaa led 32-19 at the half.
